Online Tutorials

I used this tutorial to speed up a part of my film to create a fast paced effect and make it seem like the audience are rushing down to the characters. I used this in the opening scene when the camera quickly pans down to the characters on the ground. I clicked the time stretch tool and then cut the clip to speed it up and shorten the original clip.

I used this tutorial to slow down one of the scenes to give a dramatic effect as the opening was coming to an end. I used this in the edning scene when the climax comes to a close. I again used the time stretch tool but instead of cutting the clip I extended it and created a slow motion effect.

Location research

Our final filming location included outside and on the roof of the swan centre.I think the audience will see how effective this will be during our clip because of the way the script flows through the right angles and points on location. The first of these locations started by the swan centre bus stop to the north west of the building, from there we could create a perfectly choreographed tracking shot of the main antagonist and his henchman coming towards the camera.
Another location is the main one which is a residential slope to the side of the pro dominant building;shown in the bottom picture, which also is compact so the audience. This can relate the script with the location.

The last location we filmed was the roof top above the main site giving a good vantage point for Cory to star in after the antagonist chase peaked.

Overall the site proved effective by intertwining with the script.

Viet Con - Time Management Schedule

In the first section of our filming we started to do the shots which show the audience who and what is going on by using an over the shoulder shot of me looking down at the oncoming characters (James Hill and Patrick Cowley) and Graham escorting Connor to them suggesting a villain themed clip. Filming in the dark also connotes the idea of a villain-themed film because it follows the traditional codes and conventions of an action genre. Half an hour after we finished the intro and first section of dialogue we then created a chase scene out of a stand off situation by using a tracking shot of Connor and me running to the peak of the second location (Leatherhead Swan Centre Car Park) where the final stand off and dialogue will begin. The last part of filming included me And James organising and acting the flashback scene.

Overall I believe that our time management was structured very well because of the way we managed to film in difficult conditions (to heighten the quality of film) and how well we could work around our problems which were the rainy conditions-we did this by improvising and only filming in coverd places and using the rain to our advantage in tense situation scenes allowing the audience to relate to the film.

Viet-Con - Own Film Treatment

Connor and I created an action genre 2 minute opening scene clip at the the swan centre Leatherhead, and we believe that this was the perfect location for an action genre stand off because the location offers dynamic camera angles and aspects that other low level locations do not offer,it also has enough space to move freely with the camera shots.

At the start of the opening scene there is a shot of James Hill and Patrick Cowley (The main antagonist and his henchman) moving toward the location of the main scene, giving the audience an aspect of thuggery and danger as they are walking to a subdued ally way in a night back drop giving the aura of suspense. After the two characters reach there destination the camera pans up to the sky and the titles soon appear to fade out with the camera panning down towards me (Agent Banks) with an over the shoulder shot of the two characters slowing down to there destination. Once I had looked at what the audience assume are my opponents, the camera then moves down the stairs towards the characters on the ground; with the speed up effect of this shot it will give dynamism to the opening two minutes.Once the camera moves overhead of the main antagonist and his henchman it shows Connor being lifted up from a confined space. During the stand off scene we decided to do scene by scene meaning we didn't shoot Connor's and Jame's shots in order because the angles were shot reverse shots. After the intense stand off between Connor,James, Patrick and Graham (the second henchman) the camera tracks me running away where Connor and the two henchman are running showing the audience that agent banks is closely monitoring Connor.

Once Connor gets as far as can, he stops and there is an exchange of dialogue once again between Connor and James. The fact that James is being protected by his henchman signifies that the villain has the control and power. Suddenly Agent Banks jumps down from a eagle eye viewed ledge to finally confront the three villains and tells Connor to just hand it over which the audience understand from the earlier flashback.

Now the audience can relate to the clip with the last shot showing all the characters running towards each other in an attempt to get what they want. The effect we used is a slow motion mid shot of the scene to show the audience who is battling between each other;the screen cuts black and shows titles of Viet Con once again.

Soundtrack Research

African Safari Drums

Connor and I decided to use this piece of music because it is a non-copyrighted piece from a free music provider and links well with the chase scene as it builds tempo.

The song uses a wide variety of drum sounds to create an intense rhythm that builds to a powerful climax It also blends the sounds and rhythms of African beats into a complex, modern drum tune.

Me and Cory also Incorporated Vietnam war sounds during the flashback as this will suggest to the audience that someone was involved with the Vietnam war. This type of music will persuade the audience to carry on watching the clip to find out who and why Vietnam is Incorporated.
