Viet-Con - Own Film Treatment
Connor and I created an action genre 2 minute opening scene clip at the the swan centre Leatherhead, and we believe that this was the perfect location for an action genre stand off because the location offers dynamic camera angles and aspects that other low level locations do not offer,it also has enough space to move freely with the camera shots.
At the start of the opening scene there is a shot of James Hill and Patrick Cowley (The main antagonist and his henchman) moving toward the location of the main scene, giving the audience an aspect of thuggery and danger as they are walking to a subdued ally way in a night back drop giving the aura of suspense. After the two characters reach there destination the camera pans up to the sky and the titles soon appear to fade out with the camera panning down towards me (Agent Banks) with an over the shoulder shot of the two characters slowing down to there destination. Once I had looked at what the audience assume are my opponents, the camera then moves down the stairs towards the characters on the ground; with the speed up effect of this shot it will give dynamism to the opening two minutes.Once the camera moves overhead of the main antagonist and his henchman it shows Connor being lifted up from a confined space. During the stand off scene we decided to do scene by scene meaning we didn't shoot Connor's and Jame's shots in order because the angles were shot reverse shots. After the intense stand off between Connor,James, Patrick and Graham (the second henchman) the camera tracks me running away where Connor and the two henchman are running showing the audience that agent banks is closely monitoring Connor.
Once Connor gets as far as can, he stops and there is an exchange of dialogue once again between Connor and James. The fact that James is being protected by his henchman signifies that the villain has the control and power. Suddenly Agent Banks jumps down from a eagle eye viewed ledge to finally confront the three villains and tells Connor to just hand it over which the audience understand from the earlier flashback.
Now the audience can relate to the clip with the last shot showing all the characters running towards each other in an attempt to get what they want. The effect we used is a slow motion mid shot of the scene to show the audience who is battling between each other;the screen cuts black and shows titles of Viet Con once again.
